HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!

It´s time to give thanks!
It´s time for Thanksgiving celebration.
Let us, Side by Side, celebrate our Good Deeds!
Let´s say thanks for all Heroes
that guide us to a Special Place
called My Dream World, and
where a Teddy Bear with a Sweet Whisper
Says My Name, and Eye to eye,
tells and retells us Folk Tales.
Let´s keep on Feeding Minds and Fighting Hunger
Before we sleep and dream of Machinto suffering again.
Let´s thanks for One Day in the Life
when we get to share Our Most Prized Possession
with the Many Faces of Poverty and Homelessness.
Let´s say many thanks for all Colors of Life
and for all the Flowers,
specially the Daffodil and Tulip !
Let´s live without problems
by Talking kites all over the world.
Let´s say thanks for the Water Habitat
and preserve the Environment.
Let´s praise The Animals
and the Migration Birds that know no boundaries.
Let´s embrace the Laws of Life and
be United beyond diversity
all over this World we live in.

This is "project based poem", dedicated to all teachers who already know the effectiveness of Project Based Learning and its online possibilities through iEARN network.

Yours in friendship,
Almerinda Garibaldi

Fund. Bradesco Ceilândia/CILT

Four teachers: from Fundação Bradesco de Ceilândia (Andréa) e CILT (Almerinda/Valda e Lenoir) are working with the project "Side By Side" Andréia tried to get a classroom from Miami Country Day School, but it was not possible. Almerinda and Andréia decided change the way of interacting by exchanging selected posters. I´m about finishing the posters with my students. This coming week they are going to write their profiles and closing the art work. Then, we will be ready to select the 10 best posters to exchange. I hope everything is ready by next week.
Have a nice holiday.
Cheers,
Almerinda

Wait for more picures.

Side By Side in Brazil

Side by Side is a project that motivates the language students to work with their self portrait, and exchange (via mail) their posters, that are drawing in a standard size of paper, with some students from some other country. Besides the poster, the students write a profile with personal information. The pictures of the students' drawings may also be posted not only in the iEARN forum of the project, but also in their website: http://www.miamicountryday.org/aces

At Centro de Línguas - Taguatinga-DF, and at Centro de Línguas number 1 (Brasília) this project has been developed by many teachers. It is adequated to Juvenile and Basic levels of English.

This year, a teacher from Fundação Bradesco in Ceilândia is developing Side by Side with some groups. It´s her first time. She is very excited because this is her first experience with iEARN projects. I wish her success and that her students can improve their language and social skills as well.

You can have a sample of those posters here, and maybe start developing Side By Side with your students. That's so much fun! Dont´t be insecure to start. We are here to help you. Just let us know.

HAPPY TEACHER´S DAY!

To all teachers who are part of iEARN in Brazil we´d like to express our greetings for the Teacher´s Day: October 15th!

It´s time to celebrate our hard but rewarding job of transforming lives for better and forever.

Yes, because we have this magic power of changing lives every day.

The cinquain below is a five line poem dedicated to all teachers. You are invited to use this space and create a cinquain having "Teacher" as theme.

Teacher

Special being

Planning, informing, forming

Outstanding professional

Educator

To create your cinquain, follow these steps:

1st Line: tittle

2nd Line: 2 words defining the tittle

3rd Line: 3 verbs in gerund form describing the activities related to the tittle

4th Line: 1 word to sum up and close the poem

Invite your students to compose a cinquain - they´re going to feel themselves real poets!

Cinquain´s idea: Mrs Violeta Tsoneva (Bulgary)

On September 25th/Reflecting the process

Some comments about our last meeting. It was the second of our four sessions, and I could notice that Adriana, Andréa and I had an excellent talk about name or not name the structure when teaching English classes. I asked them what would be more important for communication: knowing the names of the verbs or knowing how to use them effectively in a real context. From this question our conversation raised and got a flow of a brainstoming. Many different suggestions of activities and something that I would call the discovery of a new and enlightening approach. Am I correct dear teachers?
I would like Andréa and Adriana to post their comments about our talk last Tuesday.
More: how the practices raised in our talk can meet the proposals of Project Based Learning and of iEARN projects.

1. The main reasons why to use Project Based Learning (PBL).

2. The Components of PBL.

Please, be objective.

Opening the Journal

It was our first day of training. I felt from the teachers, Andréa and Adriana, that they are not only eager to learn, but also to share everything they already know with the trainer. Good for them, good for me... That is part of the collaborative approach.
We had some problems in terms of connection, and I hope that will be solved by the day of our next meeting. Fundação Bradesco is a nice school and provides structure for the teachers to grow professionally.
Andréa and Adriana, I´m sure we will have some very positive learning moments in this training. Nice meeting you and good luck with the iEARN projects!

O QUE É A iEARN?

O QUE É A iEARN ?

QUAIS AS PROPOSTAS DA REDE iEARN ?

"Together, and only together as a concerned and caring family/community, can we educate our children to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the health and welfare of people and the planet." Peter Copen

O ENSINO DE INGLÊS POR PROJETOS COLABORATIVOS VIA INTERNET

1) Boas Vindas
